Comparison: Should you purchase a Lexus or a Lincoln in Saskatoon?
When car buyers think of luxury car brands, Lexus and BMW are the first premium import brands that pop into their minds.
One luxury domestic brand getting a lot of press since launch is the Lincoln, especially the Lincoln Nautilus, which is comparable to the Lexus RX 350.
Formally referred to as the Lincoln MKX, it is hard to deny that drivers of Lincolns are viewed as high-end and sophisticated, thanks to a series of adverts featuring Matthew McConaughy.
Not only do the commercials portray Lincoln luxury sedans & SUVs as the vehicle you should aspire to own, but it really displays why Lincoln is without a doubt a premium brand. Considering looking at a used Lincoln in Saskatoon? At our dealership, you can have the premium brand lined up next to our range of used and new Lexus ranges because, as a luxury dealership in Saskatchewan, we believe in offering you a full range of premium brands. If this is your first time considering a used Lincoln or Lexus in Saskatoon, it may be helpful to break down how similar (and different) the Lincoln Nautilus is versus the Lexus RX 350.
History of Lincoln
To get started, let’s take a look at how the Lincoln brand got started and what has helped it evolve into a luxury brand over time. The Lincoln brand was formed by the owner of another one of America’s premium car brands: Cadillac. After selling the Cadillac range to General Motors and resigning from GM as brand managers, Henry Leland and his son created the Lincoln Motor Company to manufacture motors during WWI. Following the war’s conclusion, the factory was remodelled to manufacture luxury motorcars, and the premium Lincoln brand was formed.
Henry Leland named a lot of Cadillac Motor Company models on his lifetime hero, Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln SUV Lineup
If you are searching for a new or used Lincoln in Saskatoon, you will have four choices. Kicking off the list of Lincoln SUVs is the Lincoln Corsair, which is considered a compact small luxury SUV comparable to the Lexus NX. While the Corsair is full of features, it doesn’t offer as engaging a ride as some of the upper-range models. Next, Lincoln offers two midsize SUVs comparable to the Lexus RX 350: the Lincoln Aviator and the Lincoln Nautilus. The Aviator features moderately more room. However, the Nautilus is a family favourite and slightly easier to find if you are shopping for a used Lincoln at a local Saskatchewan luxury dealership. Finally, rounding out the list is the full-sized Lincoln Navigator, comparable to the Lexus LX.
Lexus RX Vs. Lincoln Nautilus: Space and Safety
The Lexus RX and Lincoln Nautilus are two of the most popular SUV models released between premium brands, so it makes sense to break down the pros and cons of both. Keep in mind if you are debating between a Lincoln or Lexus, the Nautilus used to be the Lincoln MKX, so you may recognize it better by that name. When lined up next to each other, the Lincoln Natulitus and Lexus RX are roughly the same size, give or take 200mm. Both are capable of holding five passengers, but the 2020 Lexus RX 350 and up got a third-row upgrade allowing them to fit up to seven passengers. So if you want to replace your min-van with an SUV, the Lexus RX 350 may be the better fit.
In terms of safety, the Lincoln MKX and the Lexus RX 350 line up well with airbags in front and back, although the Lexus offers a rear side airbag that the Lincoln skips over. They both offer a 4 wheel disc braking system, but it is worth noting that the Lincoln features driver restriction features that can help reduce the impact of distracted driving. If you are looking at a used Lincoln Nautilus for a teenager, this may not be a desirable add-on.
Lexus RX 350 Lincoln Nautilus: Technology Perks
Both cars offer a standout line-up of technology features, including dash navigation systems, plenty of audio features, and various radio formats. However, it should be noted that the Lexus RX does not support HD radio, and the Lincoln Nautilus does not come with a CD player. Still, in the day of satellite radio, neither feature will likely impact your decision. In terms of driver assistance technology, both luxury vehicles offer various features, including backup cameras, brake assist, blind-spot monitor, and cross-traffic alerts. However, the Lexus RX 350 offers a rear parking aid and heads-up display, which slightly edges out the Lincoln Nautilus.
The Winner: Lincoln or Lexus
With that in mind, you may be wondering if you should choose a Lincoln or Lexus. As noted, the models are very comparable. Factors you may want to consider heavily are whether or not you need third-row seating and how important the extra driving features are, but if your only goal is to drive a luxury SUV, then both the Lexus RX 350 and Lincoln Nautilus fit the bill.
